Mrs. Shirley Bade Carnley, age 84, of Opp, Alabama passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at her home.
Shirley was born in 1940 to her late parents, Dessie Laura White & Julius G. Bade, in Hickman, Nebraska. She met her husband, Gerald, while he was stationed in the United States Air Force in Lincoln, Nebraska. They later married on December 9, 1956 and four beautiful children followed. In December 1970 they packed up all of their belongings and moved to Opp, AL to farm Gerald's father's land.
In 1971 Shirley attended LPN school in Opp, AL. Shirley was a devoted, caring nurse for 40 years. She began her career at MMH then became Dr. Richard Spurlin's office nurse for 20 years. She retired as a home health nurse at age 70. Shirley's love of nursing now lives on through her daughters and grandchildren. Shirley loved all her grand & great-grandchildren deeply having a special place in her heart for each one. She loved to cook for her family and made sure each one had their special dish. Shirley served and loved the Lord through her church. Shirley loved Jesus and served her Lord at Sweetwater Baptist Church and Ino Baptist Church. She was a deacon's wife, served in the kitchen, loved teaching VBS, sang in the choir and provided food to those in need.
Mrs. Carnley is survived by her son, Mark Carnley & wife, Melissa; daughters, Cindy Goff & husband, Dennis, Cherri Goff & husband, Mike, and Cathy Martin & husband, Rick; brothers, Jim Bade & wife, Glenda, and Kenny Bade & wife, Marlena; sister-in-law, Christine Clark; brother-in-law, Ronnie Carnley; grandchildren, Ben Goff & Alicia, Wendy Rivers & Frank, Justin Goff & Jakki, Ashley DeShazo & Drew, Josh Carnley & Kaylinn, Ashlyn Barrett & Miles, Cristy Wise & Wesley, and Jarrod Dewrell; and great-grandchildren, Landon, Andrew, Peyton, Conner, Emily, Cali, Austin, Will, Riley, Maddox, Addison, Haylee, Ethan and Eden. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Gerald Ray Carnley; son-in-law, LaDon Dewrell; brother, Don Bade; and sisters, Erma Mason, Bessie Faye Engle, Dixie Girmus and Georgia Arroyo.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Bade Carnley will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, November 22, 2024 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Bobby Morgan will be officiating with Andrew Goff, Justin Goff, Ben Goff, Josh Carnley, Drew DeShazo and Wesley Wise serving as pallbearers.
