Mr. James Richard Holmes, age 81, of Opp, Alabama went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was a United Methodist minister for fifty years and a ham radio operator since 1967, call sign N4SYB.

Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Sharon Head Holmes; sons, David Holmes and Greg Holmes; grandchildren, Victoria Holmes Gerber  & husband, Bryce, Noel Warren & husband, Joseph, and Matthew Holmes; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Warren, Annabeth Gerber and Emma Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Lester Cauley Holmes and Willie Lee Holmes.

Funeral services for Mr. James Richard Holmes will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 17, 2025 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mike Pearson and Jeremy Pridgon will be officiating with Billy Copeland, Jerry Copeland, Larry Holmes, Raymond Holmes, Don Herring and Lee Herring serving as pallbearers.

The family requests the omission of flowers and memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org) or Cameron Chapel UMC in Brantley, Alabama.
