Mrs. Nellie Ruth Bess Jowers, age 91, of Opp, Alabama passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at her home.

Ruth will be remembered as a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and companion. She invested much love and time into other people. She was so much fun, as laughter was very much in order when she was around. Her family and friends have had one of the very best to invest into their lives. Those seeds of love will continue to bear fruit for many years to come.

Mrs. Jowers is survived by her daughters, Elaine Johnson & husband, Winford, Glenda Holmes and Phylis Ballard; sons, James Hattaway & wife, Anita, and Ricky Thomaston & wife, Beverly; sister, Lessie Driggers; and 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clemmie Jowers; grandson, Travis Cosby; great-grandson, Brock Dorman; son-in-law, Ray Holmes; brothers, Chester Bess, Lincoln Bess, Leamon Bess and Porter Bess; and parents, Cora Wallace Bess and George Bess.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Ruth Bess Jowers will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 6, 2021 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Babbie Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Andy Marler and Elbert Smith will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter Holmes, Michael Holmes, Walker Messer, Daulton Messer, Eli Pickard and Joshua Hildreth. Whitt Pickard, Hank Messer and her late grandson, Travis Cosby will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Goodbye for now; but as she often said to fellow believers, "I'll see you sooner or later". She now rests in the Heaven that she often spoke of and prepared for. And now it's no longer a dream, but a reality. We have been blessed by your life, mother, and only time will tell the multitudes touched by your heart. We will miss you, but hope to see you sooner or later.
