Mrs. Mary Ellen Bess Hawthorne, age 95, of Kinston, AL passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL.

Mrs. Hawthorne is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hawthorne Moore (Randle); sons, Randal Hawthorne (Debra Arnold), Steve Hawthorne (Melody) and Tim Hawthorne (Marie); sister, Margaret Butts; brother, Irvin Bess; grandchildren, Randy Hawthorne, Brian Hawthorne (Connie), Randy Moore (Sonya), Kevin Moore (Beth), Adam Hawthorne (Crystal), April Henderson (Phillip); and great-grandchildren, Creed Hawthorne, Regan Hawthorne, Rylen Hawthorne, Reid Hawthorne, Brookelyn Moore, Camden Moore, Tripp Hawthorne, Alaina Henderson and Landon Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas P. Hawthorne; parents, Wesley and Bunnie Pierce Bess; brothers, William Bess, Howard Bess, and Vester Bess; and sister, Kathleen Scofield.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from Opp Church of Christ. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Trey Poole and Doug Williams will be officiating with Randy Hawthorne, Brian Hawthorne, Randy Moore, Kevin Moore, Adam Hawthorne and Phillip Henderson serving as pallbearers.
