Marie Pruitt Pierce, 96, formerly of Opp, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in Mizell Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service for Marie Pruitt Pierce will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 8, 2021 in the Opp City Cemetery. Brother Billy Boles will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be John David Brabner Sr., Bryan Eric Brabner, Thomas Henry Thompson Sr., Brent Devon Pope, Garrett Evan Pope, David Michael Hatchett, John David Brabner Jr., Hannon Sylvester Hatchett.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Pruitt and Mildred Jay Pruitt; husband, James Byrd Pierce; children, Virginia Gail Pierce Brabner and Thomas James Pierce III; and son-in-law, Robert S. Lamar Jr.

She is survived by her children, Mildred Ellen Pierce Lamar and Mary Lynn Pierce Edgar (James Steven Edgar); grandchildren, John David Brabner Sr. HMC (SW) USN, Ret. (Lisa Brabner), Catherine Marie Brabner Thompson (Thomas Thompson Sr.), Teresa Gail Brabner Pope (Rev. Brent Devon Pope), Bryan Eric Brabner (Shannon Brabner), Emily Marie Pierce Worley (Lucas Worley), Mary-Morgan Pierce and Callie Edgar Hatchett (David Hatchett); great-grandchildren; Thomas Henry Thompson Jr. (Ashley Thompson), John David Brabner Jr., Allison Pope Beckham (Andrew Beckham), Catherine Thompson Sirhan (Bubba Sirhan), Sarah Brabner, Garrett Evan Pope, Erica Brabner, Emerie Brabner, Robbie Linden and Hannon Hatchett; great- great Grandchildren, Adalyn Mae Thompson, Emma Lucille Thompson, Rhett Allen Beckham and Tucker James Sirhan; and many of her Pruitt and Jay cousins who were very special to her.

In lieu of flowers, Marie requested that memorials be made to her home church cemetery fund: Adellum Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 12514 Brooklyn Road, Andalusia, Alabama 36421.
