Obituary

Mrs. Landis Collier Godwin, age 92, of Opp, Alabama passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in Mizell Memorial Hospital.

Landis loved her family and friends. She lived life to the fullest each and every day. She enjoyed spending time at the lake house, doing things for herself, and helping Lynne at the florist. As a matter of fact she cut her own grass just last week.

Mrs. Landis Collier Godwin is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Lynne Godwin Smith & Jerry; son & daughter-in-law, Mickey Godwin & Gail; sister, Mary Rusich; grandchildren, Shane Smith & Victoria, Stephen Smith & Heather, Amanda Godwin Field & Ben, and Brandon Godwin; great-grandchildren, Laura Lynne and Ashlee Smith, Jenisys Mead, and Jade Godwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Royce Godwin; sister, Annie Dell Collier; brother-in-law, Ron Rusich; and parents, Cumi Mount Collier and Louie Collier.

Due to sickness in the family, and the rapid spread of Covid-19, the family has chosen to have a private graveside service . Immediate family only will gather in Brooklyn Cemetery at 11:00 am Saturday, August 21, 2021 for a private graveside service to celebrate their mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Gary Miller will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Smith, Shane Smith, Jimmy Flowers, Charlie Stephenson and Terry Hudgens.

The family would like for everyone to know how much they appreciate the love and kindness shown during their difficult loss. They would love nothing more than to hug and love on each and every one of you, but with Jerry's illness it's just not possible at this time. They ask that you continue to remember them in your thoughts and prayers in the days, weeks and months to come.
