Obituary

Kimberly Renee "Kim" Cowen, recently passed away at her home in Opp, AL.

Kim was born in Opp on January 29 th , 1960. Her early years were spent attending New Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Curtis Community and playing with her Clark and Cowen cousins. She attended Opp City Schools, graduating in 1978.

Kim enjoyed music, watching sports, especially Alabama football, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She had an infectious laugh that left everyone smiling. Kim's nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart. She loved spending time with them, heart-to-heart talks and finding ways to make them laugh.

She spent several years at Hosanna Home in Opelika, AL. While there, she came to know the Lord. She shared her testimony of God's redemption and grace in her life many times. After completing the recovery program, she stayed on as an intern, eventually becoming the kitchen manager.

Kim was a friend to a multitude of people, including the broken-hearted, the lost, and the down-trodden. She was an encourager who loved her family and Jesus whole-heartedly. She enjoyed Christmas and giving to others. It's so hard not to be selfish and want her here with us, but we are glad that she is now free from pain and no longer struggling. She will be greatly missed. We are comforted by the knowledge that one sweet day we will see her again in heaven

She is survived by her mother, Molly Arnette Clark Cowen of Florala, AL and her father, James Roland Cowen and his wife Shelby Jean Strickland Cowen of Opp, AL.

Sister, Kay Cowen Stutes, and her husband Butch, nieces Molly Stutes Baker, Hope Stutes, nephew Casey Stutes, great nieces and nephews Jaidyn, Milah, Wyatt and Kallie Baker all of Gravette, ARK.

Brother, Chad Cowen and his wife Tonya Farmer Cowen, nephew Jesse Cowen and his wife Beth, nieces Josie and Jenna Cowen all of Hacoda, AL.

Step-sisters Magon Anderson Stepp and her husband Dennis of Seattle, WA, Julie Anderson Bierens and her husband Jan of The Netherlands, Beth Anderson Bruder and her husband Kurt of Crystal Lake, IL
