June Johnson Cain, age 93, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at her home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Born on June 16, 1933, June lived a beautiful life centered around the people she loved most—her family.
June married the love of her life, Thomas E. “Buck” Cain, Sr. Together, they built a wonderful life and shared countless memories and adventures with one another and their family. June loved telling stories of her adventures with Buck and reminiscing about the many special moments they shared throughout their years together. Her stories often included the people she loved, and she took great joy in sharing memories of her family.
June’s family adored her. To those closest to her, she was affectionately known as “Mudger June” or simply “Mudge,” a special name given to her by her granddaughter Abby that became a cherished part of the family.
June found great joy in gardening and cooking, but perhaps even more so in sharing those things with the people she loved. She enjoyed entertaining her family and took special pride in making every gathering feel beautiful and welcoming. Whether preparing a favorite meal or making sure the table was set just right, June had a way of turning time together into something special. For her, the details mattered because the people gathered around her table mattered.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas E. “Buck” Cain, Sr.; her mother, Josie Johnson; and her faithful and trusted guard dog and companion, Abel.
June is survived by her son, Thomas E. Cain, Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and her daughter, Judson Allen of Nashville, Tennessee.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Abby Cain Azzaretto and her husband, Jay, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Whitney Jordan and her husband, Chad, of Dothan, Alabama, Carli Himes and her husband, Cameron, of Nashville, Tennessee, Thomas E. “Trace” Cain, III and Alana Koehler of Savannah, Georgia, as well as Julia Harrington and her husband, Jonah of Nashville, Tennessee and Leah Allen of Dallas, Texas.
Her legacy continues through her great grandchildren, Christopher Bond, Elizabeth Bond, and Finley Jordan.
June leaves behind a family filled with memories of her stories, her cooking, her beautiful tables, her garden, and most importantly, her love. The many traditions and memories she created will continue to be shared by those who knew her as Mom, Mudger June, and Mudge. Her family will carry her love and stories with them always.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 22, 2026 in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens.
