Dr. John B. Ballard, age 86, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 in UAB Hospital. John was born in Ino, Alabama on January 1, 1936 to the late Celia Davis and Chalmers Ballard.

John received his D.M.D., PhD from the UAB School of Dentistry in 1969. He practiced Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery at the Veterans Medical Center in Birmingham, UAB Kirklin Clinic and was Associate Professor of Oral Surgery at UAB School of Dentistry. John served in the United States Army at Herzo Base Germany and with the Alabama National Guard in the 109 ^th Evac Hospital. His hobbies included deer hunting, gardening and raising Longhorn cattle.

John was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, son, John B. Ballard, Jr., and daughter, Karen E. Ballard. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Ballard; daughters, Lisa Eich and Carol Spink; brother, Dr. James W. Ballard; sister, Jane Ballard; and grandchildren, Katie Marie Woods, Ryan Spink, Alexandrea Spink and Ann Marie Eich.

A graveside service for Dr. John B. Ballard will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 30, 2022 in Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Wyatt Funeral Home from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's memory to The Lutheran Church of Vestavia Hills, Sweetwater Baptist Church or UAB School of Dentistry.
