Mr. Jimmy Lanier, Jr., age 74, of Opp, Alabama passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at his home.

Jim Lanier, beloved father, husband and granddaddy, lived a simple kind-hearted life. His passion was "walking the woods" with his boys.  He was compassionate, giving, and full of love for all of his family and friends.  Jim ran the race of a godly man and rests now with his Heavenly Father.

Mr. Jimmy Lanier, Jr.  is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Barron Lanier; son, John Robert Lanier (Amanda); daughter-in-law, Misty Lanier; brother, Tommy Carter (Deborah); sisters, Edna Boutwell (Virgil), Cassie Harwell, Ellen Pierce (Mike), Debbie Butts (Ricky), Susie Flournoy (Earl) and Norma Smith; grandchildren, David McKenzie Lanier (Bethany Ann), Matthew Timothy Lanier (Anna), Bradleigh Kate Lanier, Meredith Ryan Lanier, Maesyn Adeline Lanier and John Copeland Lanier; one great-grandchild, David McKenzie Lanier, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lonie B. Sasser Lanier; father, Jim Lanier, Sr.; stepmother, Louise Lanier; son, Matthew Timothy Lanier, Sr.; brother, Luther Messick; sister, Bobbie Armstrong and brother-in-law, Charles Harwell.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Lanier, Jr. will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 22, 2022 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service. Keith Barron will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Timothy Lanier, Jr., David McKenzie Lanier, Ricky Butts, Kevin Watley, Lee McGowin and Will Dean.

Family will be receiving friends at the home of John and Amanda Lanier.
