Jimmy Wayne Flowers, lovingly known by family and friends as “Rosebud,” was born in Troy, Alabama, on September 1, 1947. At the age of 79, he leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, friendship and countless memories shared with the people he loved.

Jimmy was blessed with 59 years of marriage to the love of his life, Ann Daniel Flowers. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters, who were among his greatest joys: Amy, LeAnn and Angela. He was a proud grandfather (Pop) to Ashley Grace, Alex, Kassidy and Mila. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and the love he had for his family will continue through the generations.

Jimmy had a love for sports and the simplicities of life. Starting in his youth, he was known for his skills on the basketball court; however his love continued to grow into adulthood. He enjoyed playing softball with several teams, and ultimately decided to give back to the sports community by serving as referee and umpire. Sports were a large part of his legacy, and something that Jimmy truly enjoyed.

Two of the most influential aspects of Jimmy’s life were faith and community. He served as a councilman for the City of Opp and loved his hometown. He was a Godly man who loved the Lord and lived his faith. He was a very active and devoted member of Westview Baptist Church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part in his life and how his memory will continue to live on.

Jimmy also became a beloved fixture in his community through his ownership of Parrish Bait Shop. The bait shop, though built from a love of the outdoors and fishing, will be remembered for more than a place to buy fishing supplies—but a gathering place. Seen by all of those near to him, was Jimmy’s devotion to people. Jimmy’s greatest gift was his ability to bring people together. He loved people, and people loved him. He had a way of making an ordinary day feel special simply by being there. The conversations, laughs, and occasional joke or two became the heart of what the storefront stood for. A place where the men could come together, sit around, talk, laugh, and enjoy one another’s company. And then there were his famous boiled peanuts. Jimmy’s boiled peanuts were loved by people from near and far and became one more special part of the legacy he leaves behind. For many, a visit to Parrish Bait Shop meant not only seeing Rosebud, but leaving with a bag of peanuts and a good memory.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Alex Wilcox; his parents, Otis and Grace Flowers; his brother, Gordon Flowers; and his sister, Myrtle Clark.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Ann; his daughters, Amy Laney and husband Heath, LeAnn Wilcox and husband Shaun, and Angela Parker and husband Larry; his granddaughters, Ashley Grace Grissom (Houston), Kassidy Lee (JD), and Mila Parker (Garrett); his nephew Larry Johnson (Jan) other family, friends and church family members whose lives he touched.

Funeral services for Jimmy Wayne Flowers will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, September 10, 2026 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 at Wyatt Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Miller and Bro. Ralph Rimmer will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Ellis, Mike Carnley, Craig Wilson, Daron Wilson, Jody Jones and Derek Bryan with all the bait shop crew serving as honorary pallbearers. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we can take comfort in knowing that Jimmy loved the Lord and that his faith was the epitome of who he was. His memory will live on in the family he cherished, the friendships he made, the games he played and refereed, the fish he caught, the conversations shared at the bait shop, and, of course, those famous boiled peanuts. Jimmy Wayne “Rosebud” Flowers will never be forgotten. He was deeply loved, greatly admired, and treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain in our hearts forever.
