Mr. Jerry H. Smith, age 74, of Opp, Alabama passed away Friday, February 28, 2025 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.

Jerry worked at Kersey's Bonded Termite for just over 31 years before owning and operating his own business, Jerry Smith & Sons Pest Control. He also served as long-time fire chief of Onycha Fire as well as Mayor of Onycha. Jerry loved the Lord and his servant's heart showed at Brooklyn Congregational Methodist Church where was a church leader, Sunday school teacher for many years, and interim pastor. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed fishing, quail hunting, golfing and Alabama football – but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Jerry loved Lynne, his boys and his precious grand girls with all of his heart.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lynne Godwin Smith; sons, Shane Smith & wife, Victoria, and Stephen Smith & wife, Heather; granddaughters, Laura Lynne and Ashlee Smith, and Jenisys Mead; sister, Gale Smith; and brother, Ted Smith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Grimes Smith; father, Howard Smith; and mother & father-in-law, Landis & Eddie Godwin.

A graveside service for Mr. Jerry H. Smith will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 3, 2025 in Brooklyn Cemetery (Intersection of CR 437 and CR 426 Opp, AL). Jack Day will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Wiginton, Garrett Grider, Charlie Day, Jeremiah Straughn, Curt Jones and Donnie Earles with Chris Morrow and Scott Speigner serving as honorary pallbearers.
