Mr. James Reginald Parrish, age 89, died at home on Saturday, February 13, 2021, surrounded by his family, after a long illness.
He was born on January 15, 1932 to his late parents Burie and Aggie Parrish. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Langford Parrish; brothers, Burie Gard Parrish, Jr., Cecil Parrish and Don Parrish; and sister, Mary Rae Portwood.
He is survived by his son James "Steve" Parrish & wife, Nancy of Stafford, VA; daughter, Marian Allday & husband Greg of Manning, SC; grandchildren, Heather Parrish Johns & husband, Chris of Bloomsburg, PA; Grant S. Parrish & wife Jennifer of Warrenton, VA; Matthew G. Allday of Manning, SC; and Andrew C. Allday of Columbia, SC; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Parrish retired with the rank of Master Sergeant from the U.S. Army after having served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He later retired as a Lieutenant from the University of South Carolina Police Department.
Mr. Parrish was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Opp.
A private graveside service for family only will be held at 11 am Friday, February 19, 2021 in Adellum Baptist Church Cemetery in Andalusia, AL. Rev. Tommy Green will be officiating.
