Obituary

Mr. James T. Davis, age 85, of Florala, Alabama passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in Florala Health & Rehab.

James was a proud Paxton Bobcat and member of the 1955 State Championship team. He would jokingly tell his sons he was the all-time greatest and the best he ever saw. He truly loved the game and held the record for most points scored in Paxton basketball history scoring 46 points in a single game - this was before the 3-point shot. After high school he joined the Navy, serving his country for four years, and then went on to graduate from Troy State University. After college, Mr. Davis successfully worked on Apache helicopters for 40 years at Ft. Rucker with zero defects. At that time, Ft. Rucker was known as The Center of Knowledge. After his retirement he preached at several area churches.

Mr. Davis is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Shane Davis & Mary Beth, and Dana Davis & Tiffany; brothers, Lamar Davis & wife, Cindy, and Manuel Davis & wife, Glenda; sister, Carol Thornton; and grandchildren, Evan Davis, Austin Davis & wife, Anna, Jordan Davis and Olivia Davis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Walden Davis; sister, Margaret Landingham; and parents, Jessie Bell White Davis and Woodrow Wilson Davis.

Funeral services for Mr. James T. Davis will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 7, 2025 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Almarante Cemetery in Laurel Hill, Florida. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
