Ms. Irene Wilson Tayler, age 98, of Opp, Alabama passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Opp Health and Rehabitation.

Ms. Tayler is survived by her daughters, Joan Calhoun and Jan Tayler Reid and partner, Lisa McKnight; grandson, Joshua Calhoun and wife, Cassey Calhoun; great-granddaughter, RyLeigh Thornton and great-grandson, Cotton Riggs Calhoun.

Ms. Tayler was born in Monmouth, Illinois to Oral Wilson and Lena Larimer Wilson. She graduated from Fairview Community High School and wasValedictorian of the class of 1943 and then from Brown Business College in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was married to W. Eugene Tayler on April 13, 1945 in Bristol, Rhode Island and following his discharge from the navy they returned to Galesburg, Illinois.

Ms. Irene worked at the Galesburg Clinic for 25 years until her retirement and then she and her husband moved to Dothan, Alabama to be close to her daughter and grandson. She then worked at Dothan Specialty Clinic part-time for 10 years as a medical transcriptionist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years in 1990, two brothers, Melvin Wilson and Wayne Wilson; three sisters, Jo Murdock, Becky Baxter and Barbara Jean Wilson; a nephew, Danny Sloan and a special friend, Jean Conlon Wheat.

She was a member of Westview Baptist Church and the HOPE Sunday School Class.
