Huron "Buddy"
Anderson
April 3, 1941 – July 18, 2025
Huron "Buddy" Anderson, 84, of Andalusia, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2025.
He was born on April 3, 1941 to Malcolm and Ruby Anderson. Buddy graduated from Opp High School, and he enjoyed attending reunions and keeping up with classmates throughout the years. After high school, Buddy worked. He built bridges, drove 18 wheelers, worked construction, roofed houses, chicken farmed, and raised cattle. Buddy always told everyone that working was his hobby, and it was, but it was not his life. Buddy's life was his family. He married in 1963, and he loved his wife, Janice Lord Anderson, his children, Robin, Dale, and Rickey, and grandchildren very much. He would always drop his "hobby" of work to make sure they had everything they needed. Later in life, and when he was not with his children and grandchildren or working, he was with his wife, Janice, riding their Harley Davidson. They shared a great love for riding and enjoyed the adventure that came with that. Though he loved working and riding Harleys, Buddy's best role was that as a grandparent. He enjoyed his time with his grandkids and loved being their Poppa, and he never failed to let them tag along with him while he worked, which the grandchildren now remember as an exciting adventure.
Buddy leaves behind his devoted wife of 62 years, Janice Lord Anderson; daughter, Robin Anderson Bailey (Jeff); sons, Dale Anderson (Heather) and Rickey Anderson (Genia); grandchildren, Molly Bailey Wilson (Bo), AJ Bailey, Adam Anderson, Natasha Anderson Sumblin, and Hunter Anderson; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his sister, Nicole Rolling (Jeffrey); his sisters-in-law, Glenda Anderson and Sheron Anderson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Bradley Guentert; father, Malcolm Anderson; stepfather, Doug Guentert; and brothers, Hulon and Tony Anderson.
A private graveside service was held at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church on July 20, 2025, with son-in law Jeff Bailey and grandson Adam Anderson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Adam Anderson, Dale Anderson, Rickey Anderson, AJ Bailey, Jeff Bailey, and Bo Wilson.
