Mr. Hansford Cooper, age 87 of Maylene, AL, formerly of Opp, AL, passed away at Safe Harbor Veteran's Hospital Birmingham on Sunday, April 13, 2025, surrounded by family members.  He was often described as having unconditional support, a sweet nature, always teasing and a bold laughter by those that loved him.  He loved his extended family and friends very deeply.  To those that were new to meet him, he was often described as sweet.  He hardly met a stranger.  He will be deeply missed but cherished memories remain.

Hansford is survived by his daughter, Milly (Jeff) Stewart, Maylene, AL;  step-sons, Kevin (Elizabeth) Griffin and Joey (Lori) Griffin of Andalusia, AL, Chris (Emi) Weeks of Sacramento, California; and beloved granddaughters, Emily and Samantha.  He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Alexander of Eight Mile; ex-wife/friend Hazel N. Anderson, Maylene, AL; and numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Holland & Ethel Cooper; and son, Michael Cooper & wife, Rebecca Cooper.

A graveside service for Mr. Hansford Cooper will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Larry Jackson will be officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the church of your choice, your local veteran's organization or the VA programs that assisted Hansford:
