Gerald (Jerry) DeVon Tyson, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on June 5, 2025.

Born on February 26, 1940, Jerry lived a full and generous life, devoted to his family, his country, and his community. He proudly served in the United States Navy and later retired from a long and dedicated career with Atomic Exterminators. Known for his steady presence and big heart, Jerry found joy in coaching both his children's and grandchildren's sports teams—leaving behind not just a legacy of love, but of mentorship and encouragement for generations.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Reba Tyson; his father, Clyde Tyson; mother, Bessie Irene Schmucker; and brothers, Dennis Tyson and Doug Tyson. He is survived by his brother, Jim Garver (wife Mary); sister, Sue Bradshaw; daughters, Vanessa Schrock Earl (husband Ronald), Star Kaye Tyson, Doshia Tyson Wehmeyer (husband Todd), and Tonya Windham (husband Chris); sons, Shannon Tyson (wife Stacey) and Jerry Tyson (wife Ashley). He was a proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church in Andalusia, Alabama.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love for his family, and his unwavering support for those around him. His memory lives on in the countless lives he touched.
