Mr. George Leon Buckelew, age 98, of Opp, Alabama passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 in Mizell Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Buckelew is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Sue Catrett & Larry; sons & daughters-in-law, Larry Buckelew & Nancy, Mike Buckelew & Wanda, David Buckelew & Carrie, and Mitch  Buckelew & Kelly; sister, Olivia Herring; and 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cook Buckelew; brother, William Howard "Boots" Buckelew; and parents, Gladys Pearl Mooney Buckelew and George Dewey Buckelew.

Funeral services for Mr. George Leon Buckelew will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 1, 2024 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Buddy Hood will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to International Mission Board (3806 Monument Ave., Richmond, Virginia 23230) where one of his grandsons is currently serving.
