Obituary

Finn Howell Free of Geneva, Alabama, was welcomed into the loving embrace of his Heavenly Father on the evening of October 3, 2025, at the age of 6.

Finn was born to Gavin and Kayla Free on October 29, 2018. From the moment Finn's time began on this earth, he brought energy and happiness to everyone he met, especially his family. The perfect mixture of sweetness and spunk, he was his mama's baby, his daddy's best friend, and his brother's hero.

Finn loved being outdoors and living life, and he had many hobbies, highlighting his contagious energy and joy. From riding horses and roping his baby brother to hunting, exploring the woods, and playing sports, Finn lived every moment as a grand adventure. Whether he was at home, on the field, or on the playground, Finn could always be seen running and skipping–walking simply wasn't a part of who he was. He loved spending his afternoons hunting anything from rabbits to monster bucks in the back yard or in the woods, and while the classroom may not have been his favorite place to be, Finn loved playing with his friends and making people laugh.

Though Finn had an unlimited host of family and friends who loved him, he especially loved playing with his brother and cousins, and he adored his grandparents–Mama Jan, PawPaw, CoCo, and Pops. Most of all, though, his mom and dad were his world, and he treasured the moments spent with them, just as they cherished those precious times with their little boy.

He and his cousin, Jones Ann Cain, were welcomed into Heaven by a host of family and friends.

Finn is survived by his loving parents, Gavin and Kayla Free; brother, Kash Free; grandparents Keith & Janet Howell and Tim & Connie Free; aunts and uncles, Paige (Heath) Fountain and Laiken (Tyler) Blackwell; cousins, Griffin & Alli Kate Fountain and Hamp & Charley Paige Blackwell; great-grandparents, Charles Free and Linda Howell, along with many other close family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Ino Baptist Church. Bro. Garry Winstead will be officiating with Heath Fountain, Tyler Blackwell, Talon Flowers, Griffin Fountain, Chase Hendrix, Hunter Jones, and Britt Wilson serving as pallbearers. A private interment service will be held at a later date, with Wyatt Funeral Home of Opp directing. The sanctuary of the church will be open beginning at 12:00 pm for those who would like to pay their respects before the service.
