Dorothy "Dot" Boothe Norris, of Opp, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at the home of her daughter, Kim (Jeff) Hallmark, in Decatur, Alabama.

Born on February 2, 1942, to Clarence "Foster" Boothe and Trudie Cole Boothe, Dot was raised in Opp and remained deeply rooted in her community and family throughout her life.

She graduated from high school in 1960 and later that year married her high school sweetheart, Leon LaVaughn "Von" Norris, on September 9. Together they raised two children, Kim and Craig Norris.

Dot's life reflected a strong work ethic and a genuine love for people. She worked in many roles, including restaurant and boutique owner, peanut grader, textile inspector, farm operator, senior-living manager, and later as a beloved cashier at Walmart, where she cherished seeing familiar faces each day.

Her faith journey included Sweet Home Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church in Opp, and in later years Westview Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Norris (Jeff) Hallmark of Decatur, Alabama; her son, Craig LaVaughn (Tama) Norris of Opp, Alabama; her grandchildren, Haley Norris Louallen (Andrew) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Tori Norris Rahimizadeh (Rod) of Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina; LaVaughn Norris, the father of her children and the love of her life; her sisters, Jerotha McCall of Houston, Texas, and Connie Huggins of Opp, Alabama; her great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence "Foster" Boothe and Trudie Cole Boothe; her siblings Alinka, Dyan, and Mike; her half-brother Cecil Boyd; and her nephew Ronnie.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her private caregivers Penny Putnam, Amie Buford, and Charlie Pepper, and to the compassionate team at Hospice of the Valley.
