June 19, 1935 – March 11, 2026
Dorman Jerrell Richards was born on June 19, 1935, to the late Wesley and Thelma Richards. He passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Richards married Shirley Duncan on June 3, 1960. During their marriage, they enjoyed traveling the world while he proudly served his country in the United States Army. During this time, they welcomed two daughters, Mona and Karen. After retiring from the Army, they returned to the Babbie Community, where they made their home for many years. His beloved wife of 58 and a half years, Shirley, preceded him in death on January 20, 2019.
While stationed at Okinawa, Japan during his Army career, he became involved with the Masonic Lodge #118. He is currently a member at the Opp and Elba Masonic Lodge. On 1/24/2025 he received his 50 year pin.
On April 26, 2022, he married Faye Hudson Jones. Together they shared companionship and enjoyed spending time at their camper at Gantt Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Thelma Richards; brother, Thaurence Richards; and sister, Floyce Butler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Jones Richards; daughters, Mona Borgen & husband Leif, and Karen Rogers & husband Paul; grandchildren, Jennifer Griffith, Dylan Borgen, and Brianna Holloway & husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Sophie Grace Griffith and Presley Lynn Holloway; brother, Drexell Richards; and sister, Glenda Richards-Hammett. He is also survived by his wife, Faye's children, Kenneth Jones, Pamela Crews, Teresa Norris, Melissa Staley; and 6 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Dorman Jerrell Richards will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 16, 2026 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with full military honors and Masonic graveside rites following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Red Coleman and Jamey Smith will be officiating.
We would also like to make special mention to Paul Rogers, Kenneth Jones, and Drexell Richards. These men helped our father so much from fixing things that needed attention, yard work, taking him to and from appointments, and much more while he was sick. I know how much he cared, and appreciated everything they did for him.
Dorman will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind, honest, and wonderful husband, father, brother, son, & friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched.
