Wicks
March 9, 1926 – January 4, 2021
Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Wicks was born in 1926 to Perry and Alma Scofield. She was one of nine brothers and sisters. She was married to, and preceded in death, by Charles R. Wicks.
Doris, Dot as she was often called, enjoyed a colorful and happy life, living to the age of 94. Doris passed away peacefully at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Fl. on January 4, 2021.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Wicks of Palm Harbor, FL and Dr. Thomas Wicks of Hallsville, MO.; five grandchildren, Michele, Matthew, Jennifer, Spencer and Tyler; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Doris and Charles were long-time members of the First United Methodist Church of Opp. They were married for over 70 years and enjoyed many of those years in Opp where they were blessed with many friends and relatives.
A graveside service for Mrs. Doris Elizabeth Wicks will be held at 11 am Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Gary Miller and Braxton Kendrick will be officiating with Wyatt Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Opp, 209 E. Ida Ave., Opp, Al 36467.
The Wicks family would like to express their heart-felt love and appreciation to Tammi Wicks for her selfless and tireless caregiving, as well as to all the caregivers who helped through this difficult time.
