Carolyn Ann
Dyess
March 31, 1942 – March 25, 2025
Carolyn Ann (Adams) Dyess, eighty-two of Samson, Alabama went home peacefully after a battle with pancreatic cancer Tuesday evening, March 25, 2025.
Carolyn Ann was born March 31, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama. She was the youngest daughter of Parents' Dewey Wilmer Hixon Adams and Mattie Kathleen (Bolan) Adams. Sisters Sue Donaldson (Ed Donaldson) and Mary Flowers.
Carolyn graduated from Kinston High School in 1960 and married the love of her life, best friend, and travel partner Perry Jean Dyess. Carolyn had a "bit of gypsy" in her (her words) and with Perry, they traveled the world. She loved life and made it her best one. Her heart was with family and getting together weekly with longtime friends. Always inquisitive and loved adventure.
Carolyn is survived by her two children: Ytonna Dyess Finnegan (James) and Adam Perry Dyess (Katherine) along with two grandchildren, Aidan Michael Finnegan, and Sterling Perry Dyess. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law Barbara Dyess, Janice Crews, and brothers-in-law Jerone Dyess (Wanda) and Jerry Dyess (Sarah) & numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Carolyn, like her father & daughter, was an avid Alabama fan. She was a legend in her own right. Always in her favorite Alabama t-shirt with shaker in hand, during games you could hear her yell & text – Roll Tide!
The holidays were extra special as family & friends gathered and Carolyn made her famous pecan pie, Christmas cookies and treats.
