Mrs. Betty Jo Seay, age 89, of Kinston, Alabama passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Opp Health and Rehabilitation from cancer.

Mrs. Seay is survived by her sons, Dwayne Seay and wife, Elizabeth, and Kenneth Seay and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Greg Seay and wife, Heather, Paul Seay and wife, Tabitha, Hannah Seay, and Kala Seay; great-grandchildren, Greyson, Jayden, Margaret, Mathias, and Ryder; brothers, Heflin Smith and wife, Gerrie, John Will Smith and wife, Hilda; sisters, Syble Weeks Bromstad, Ann Northey, Ilene Money Anderson, and sister-in-law, Navajo Bawkum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dois Seay; parents, Jewel and Celia Smith; and brother-in-law and sister, Jim and Tabbie Bawkum; nephew, Steven Bawkum; brother-in-laws, Bill Weeks, Reagan Money, David Bromstad, Taylor Northey, and Morris Anderson.

Mrs. Seay was born to Jewel and Celia Smith on June 19, 1932, near the Perry Store Community. She married Dois Seay on December 4, 1948. Mrs. Seay worked at the Kinston Manufacturing Facility, served as the Town of Kinston City Clerk, and was the Director of Kinston's Senior Center. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Kinston and enjoyed singing in the choir.

The visitation will be held at Wyatt Funeral Home on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. with graveside services following in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. Norman Simmons will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Kinston.
