Mrs. Betty Jean Jones Hattaway, age 85, of Opp, Alabama passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 in Opp Health & Rehab.

Betty was born in February of 1940 to her late parents, Katie Bell and Ander. At age 16 she married Dooley and they had two daughters, Belinda and Patricia. Betty loved to cook and was the life of the party. Family was important to her and she loved them deeply. To her family, friends and caregivers she was known as "Granny" or "Momma".

Mrs. Hattaway is survived by her daughters, Belinda Hattaway Cawthon & husband, Tim, and Patricia Hattaway Johnson, & husband, Rene; grandchildren, Kiep Johnson & wife, Tiffany, and Cara Brooks & Louis Hobbie; and great-grandchildren, Jack Henry Johnson, Maggie Amelia Johnson and Ayzlee Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Henry Hulan "Dooley" Hattaway; sister, Louise Sanders; and parents, Katie Bell Jackson Jones and Ander Jackson Jones.

Graveside services for Mrs. Betty Jean Jones Hattaway will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at Wyatt Funeral Home one hour prior to the graveside service. Kevin Brooks will be speaking with Neal Presley, Chad Boothe, Jerry Boothe, Adam Elmore, Kenneth Jackson and Louis Hobbie serving as pallbearers.

The family would like to offer their love and appreciation to their "bonus family" at Opp Health & Rehab for always going above and beyond when caring for Mrs. Betty Jean - they will never be forgotten. They also want to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice for their loving care.
