Ms. Molly Arnette Cowen, age 85, a cherished member of the Opp, Alabama community, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 in Florala Health and Rehabilitation in Florala, Alabama.
Arnette was born on November 4, 1939, in Opp, Alabama to Julia Jones Clark and Willie Jesse Clark. She graduated from Opp High in 1958 and later earned a secretarial certificate from Napier Field Technical College in Dothan, Alabama.
She began her career as an administrative assistant at Opp & Micolas Mills, where she worked till 1988. That year, she moved to Pensacola, Florida, and began a successful second career in retail at Dillard's Department Store. After retiring, Arnette returned home to Opp, where she enjoyed reconnecting with friends, family, and her hometown community.
Arnette was a member of Westview Baptist Church, where her faith and fellowship were important parts of her life.
Ms. Cowen is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Kay Stutes & Butch of Gravette, Arkansas; son & daughter-in-law, Chadwick Cowen & Tonya of Hacoda, Alabama; grandchildren, Molly Baker, Casey Stutes, Hope Stutes, Jesse (Beth) Cowen, Josie (Michael) Cox, and Jenna Cowen; great-grandchildren, Jaidyn, Milah, Wyatt and Kallie Baker, and Mylin Elise Cox; and brother, Thomas (Carroll) Clark. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, LaVelle Clark and Sammy Clark; and daughter, Kim Cowen.
Arnette will be remembered for her dedication, her gracious spirit, and the warmth she brought to those around her.
Funeral services for Ms. Molly Arnette Cowen will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 25, 2025 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with Nate Smith officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A private burial will take place in Rhoades Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Westview Baptist Church in Opp.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Florala Health and Rehab for the compassionate care they provided over the past few years.
