Obituary

Mrs. Anovle Norris Bowden, age 92, of Opp, Alabama passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at her home, 25221 Bowden Road, Opp. She is now in Heaven rejoicing with the Lord & Savior that she praised and sang to every day. Her wish was for all to be saved. Mrs. Bowden was born on October 14, 1931 in Covington County, Alabama to her late parents, Bessie Wages Norris and Dallas Norris.

She was a school bus driver for Fleeta School for 30 years. She loved all the children that rode her bus. They each held a special place in heart, as well as Fleeta School as a whole. Along with driving the school bus, she worked in the Opp Mill, sewing factor, Mizell Memorial Hospital and the family farm. She and Donald worked their 40 acre farm raising crops, cows and pigs thus allowing them to take care of and feed the family they loved so much.

Mrs. Bowden is survived by her daughters, Julia Ann Swain, Brenda Haygens & husband, Eddie, Annie Jo Crowley, and Bobbie Sue Haygens & husband, Robert; grandchildren, Wendy Donaldson (David), Sarah Cotter (Jonathan), Jessica Daniels (Chad), Ragan Crowley, Joshua Haygens (Heather), Christa Tate ( Steven), Brandon Haygens and Ben Cooper (Breanna); great-grandchildren, Seth Donaldson, Cameron Brooks, Ramsi Tate, Canaan Tate, Evan Haygens, Elliott Cooper and Jonah Cotter; and sisters, Cola Short, Betty Tanner and Marjorie Brooks. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald Edwin Bowden; grandchildren, Kristopher Crowley and Jason Bowden Swain; great-granddaughter, Sophie Donaldson; and 6 siblings.

Funeral services for Mrs. Anovle Norris Bowden will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 9, 2024 from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Sweet Home Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 until service time. Rev. Bruce McCormick, Rev. Nathaniel Belcher and Josh Kyser will be officiating with Joshua Haygens, Brandon Haygens, Ben Cooper, Michael Chatham, Danny Earl Chatham and Steven Tate serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Donaldson, Cameron Brooks, Canaan Tate and Evan Haygens.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Sweet Home Cemetery Fund or the charity of one's choice. The family will be receiving friends at her home, 25221 Bowden Road, Opp, Alabama 36467.
